Digital copy at HDL lacks original cover and endpapers, shows: -- title page, itself illustrated, credits "Pictures by Joseph M. Gleeson"; those by Kipling are nowhere credited -- color frontispiece -- numerous b/w illustrations, including two full-page in the first story alone -- p[250], logo over "The Country Life Press Garden City, N. Y." Evidently p1-249 incorporating b/w illustrations by Kipling have been retained; 12 plates display the color illustrations by Gleeson. The frontispiece illustrates the first story; otherwise one plate immediately precedes and faces the first page of each story.
