Synopsis:

Joint US/Russian Mars terraforming expedition in asteroid belt contacted by human aliens seeking help against an "evil empire" of non-human aliens. Due to Earth's hostility against space services in particular and technology in general crew decides to accept the aliens' help and disappear. Space and ground battles ensue to free the aliens' homeworld from the enemy. Mysteries are left unresolved about abandoned space stations and humans on the alien world.
