Reviewed by Earle F. Walbridge (who introduced The Wonderful Garden, 1935 Coward-McCann ed.) NY Herald Tribune 1937-12-26 pH7: "Wet Magic, first serialized in the Strand Magazine in 1903, is the last of Edith Nesbit's long tales of magic for children, and, one must regretfully add, almost if not quite the least of them." Other 1937 US newspaper items call this book a revival and a long-neglected classic. Columnist-editor May Lamberton Becker presented the contribution of one reader as stating that it "rounds out the record of E. Nesbit as a magical story teller for children" (NYHT 1937-11-21 pH27 "The Reader's Guide: Mermaids").
