Australian edition Data from report in the 2003 edition (and thus from the 1895 first ed.): 'This new edition is based on the 1897 Australian edition of The Yellow Wave. The novel was first published in England in 1895 by Richard Bentley. It was reissued in 1897, by the same publisher, in an English-produced "Australian" edition. Apart from the date and a publication note ("This edition is issued by the Proprietors of the Copyright for the circulation in the Australian Colonies only"), the Australian edition is identical to the first. It was common British publication practice in this period to issue such "colonial" editions, insuring control of relevant markets.' --entire first paragraph, "A Note on the Text", 2003, p.xxxiii (2003 softcover ed. "Look inside" viewed at Amazon UK 2022-07-03)
The 2003 text is almost identical: '... With the exception of a small number of silent corrections of obvious typographical errors, we have reproduced the text without alteration, retaining Mackay's idiosyncrasies ...' Some idiomatic expressions are explained in the 2003 "Notes".
Contains 6 black-and-white line drawings by Frank P. Mahony. Contains 1895 foldout sketch map of Queensland (not in the 2003).
