The Kipling story, pp. 52-66, begins under the three-line heading, in three sizes and fonts: With the Night Mail. By Rudyard Kipling. From " The Windsor Magazine," October, A.D. 2147. Illustrations. There are five illustrations, full-page or nearly so, probably from paintings: three by H. Reuterdahl (pp. 53, 56, 65) and two by H. C. Seppings Wright (Henry Charles, 1850–1937) (59, 62). They are not credited in the magazine where the story begins, but so indexed at FictionMags; some are legibly signed "Reuterdahl 05" and "H C Seppings Wright". They are credited in Volume 23 as bound, Index, p.vi (copy from PSU viewed at HathiTrust): "Illustrated by H. Reuterdahl and H. G. Seppings Wright" [sic] (possibly following the back or inside cover of the magazine). The Reuterdahl illustrations with different captions are alone in the US monthly McClure's for November, where the last of them (p65) is reproduced in color as the issue frontispiece. There they are credited to "H. Reuterdahl". The second (p56) is Reuterdahl's contribution to the 1909 chapbook editions of the expanded story.
