- The cover artist credit is on the copyright page. No signature is visible in the artwork.
- There is a map on pages 6 and 7 that is signed "(C) 98 Miles Short." It's possible this is for humor and not the artist's name. As the copyright is 1998 it's likely this map was drawn for the DAW Books edition of this work.
- Within the publication are illustrations done in a different style than the map. Also, at the start of the section for each letter of the alphabet is a stylized letter that appear to be illustrations created for this publication. It's possible these interior illustrations are from the Gollancz edition. A signature is not visible within any illustration except for:
- Page 85 within "Ecology" is an illustration of a dragon. It appears there's something written under the tail. but I can't figure out what it says. The same illustration is on page 155 within "Leathery-Winged Avians" and is flipped around from the one on page 85.
- Page 95 within "Embroidery" is an illustration signed "J.W."
- Page 104 within "Fish" is signed but the lower part is cut off. I believe it says DiFate. There is a caption but I can't figure out the word.
- Page 222 within "Scaly Folk" appears to be signed "Anon" though it's in very small print.
- Note to verifiers of other editions: Please drop me a note if your edition has the same illustrations and/or if you can figure out any of the signatures. Thank you! ~Marc Kupper.
