- "M. B. Cormack" appears on the title page. The Harrap cover and dj both credit "Maribelle" Cormack. The primary verifier's copy does not contain a dustjacket, hence it's not known if those names have also been changed to "M. B.".
- The Primary Verifier's copy also has pasted in on the page before the title page a quality black-and-white print on a larger white background of the whaling ship "Bowditch" that's featured in the story, credited beneath the image to "courtesy of the Peabody Museum of Salem". It's possible this may have been included by the publisher and not a previous owner.
