- Two-volume price is from advertisements, earliest The Examiner #2085 (1848-01-15) p48, "New Works by Popular Authors published by Mr T. C. Newby"; this one "In 2 vols. post 8vo. price 21s."
- Internet Archive (Open Library, below) provides for Vol. I the UC copy also at HathiTrust, with most of the Preface missing; for Vol. II images of the interior only.
-
HathiTrust Digital Library catalog record provides full view of two copies, one from U California and one from U Virginia.
The UC copy includes probably original marbled covers and endpapers, but most of the Preface (Vol. I) is missing.
The UV copy interior may be complete, but the first printed page of each volume displays three lines (all caps): "Alkaline Paper / Preservation Photocopy / University of Virginia".
-- title page, v1 (UV copy)
-- v1 "Index" lists contents as "I.—Introduction" to "X.— [...]"
-- title page, v2 (UC copy)
-- v2 "Index" lists contents as "I.—The Power of Will" to "VIII.—Conclusion"
The v1 "Index" (Contents, p[iii]) lists page numbers 95 and 222 where 75 and 223 are correct.
"Doppelgangers, or Doubles" is listed in the Contents but the story heading and running title use "Döppelgangers". Midway in that chapter, p277, the running title changes to "Döppelgangers and Self-Seeing".
Chapter X, "The Future That Awaits Us", ends on page 421 and the last printed leaf, [421]-22, is "Appendix to Chapter VI. Case of Colonel Townshend." Automated search shows that "Colonel Townshend" is mentioned in Chapter VI, p199.
As of 2020-02-15, the interior of Vol. II has not been checked for any comparable anomalies.
