  • Notes:
    • 1st ed. Price 15/- distinguishes the ordinary, rather than Edition de Luxe limited to 100 copies, and both copies viewed at HathiTrust appear to be the ordinary.
    • Translator(s) uncredited and unknown, perhaps Rappoport and Murray. The latter's introduction to "The Cold Heart" notes "a new translation ... published in the present volume".
    • This Holden & Hardingham edition in some format and printing appears to be the source for Project Gutenberg Ebook #32219 (see).
    • Undated Publication date (inferred) and price from the earliest notice found: publisher advertisement in The Bookman, 1913-11 p125: "Containing 30 Coloured Plates from the original paintings specially executed for this work by Forster Robson. In crown 4to [SIZE] bound in cloth, richly gilt and gilt top, with mounted coloured plates. 15s. net. Limited Edition de Luxe. Signed by the Artist. 21s. net in white buckram and gold. Limited to 100 copies."
    • HathiTrust Digital Library provides full view of two copies, without original cover probably. That from Michigan contains more of the illustrations, including the mounted frontispiece and guardsheet that the California copy lacks. The Michigan copy (title page at HDL) probably lacks some illustrations or guardsheets too.
    • HDL provides also a view of the Musson edition (Toronto, undated) whose original interior may be identical, except the title leaf. From frontispiece to p[74] that one contains 6 images more than the Michigan copy of this edition; 20 images more than the California copy.
    • Last page unnumbered, second series only; p[74], the last non-blank page in the book. 30 unnumbered leaves of plates SIZE "4to (7-1/2in x 10in)" per publisher advert.
    • OCLC 6874579 and HDL report size "27 cm" as year "1913", presumably an error for "[1913]". BL 000655950 and OCLC 315928601 report quarto size as "[1914]".
    • {{OCLC|933052255}} reports a "[1914]" copy as "2 volumes in 1 : color illustrations ; 21 cm".
    • Reginald1 incorrectly lists the title as "The Wonderful History of the Shadowless Man"
