Notes: The verifier's copy, shown in the image, has a central color pictorial paper inlay with a black frame and decoration, and black text on both the cover and the spine. L.W. Currey has an identical copy except all black elements on this cover are stamped in gold, plus his copy has a 32-page publisher's catalogue inserted at the end, which is missing (with no indication of it having previously been there) in the verification copy. Both editions have a title page printed in red and black. It seems most likely that the gold-stamped cover is the original "A" state cover, and the black printed cover is a later printing, not noted on the copyright page.
