US newspaper coverage noted below (the earliest items found), does not indicate a second format, which may have been subscribed in advance. $2.50 must be the ordinary price.
    • Data from online sellers and from WorldCat (OCLC, below).
    • Limited edition of 375 copies (250 for UK, 125 for US), signed by Rackham.
    • 8 plates by Rackham. Illustrated lining papers.
    • OCLC 1019496077 provides numerous descriptive notes. See also {{OCLC|590179450}} on the London edition.
    • Price $2.50 for the ordinary edition, presumably, from retailer advert Hartford Courant 1928-10-09 p9; and full review by {{a|Anne Carroll Moore}} NY Herald Tribune -11-04 pK8 (very positive). In the lead Moore notes of Rackham's commission, "a delightful holiday book he has made of it. A book to call forth shivers and laughter from children too young to read or even to listen to the story itself, but not to young to recognize goblins and ghosts when they see them as clearly depicted as these are." (The review is concerned largely with Rackham's work, touches on the illustration of fantasy in general, and reports his attitude toward and response to New York on a visit last November. Moore has studied his work since then.)
