• First published, 1901 • This edition, 1954 • Latest Reprint, 1961 • There is no © date • A reissue of one of the Collins Classics series printed between 1953-1956 by an unknown book club • There is a star-shaped blind-stamp on the back board • Issued with dust jacket [missing from PV1's copy] • Original editions were in red leather/leatherette/cloth depending on printing; all of the BCE editions were in green cloth with green stained upper page ends, gold lettering on the spine only and likely printed in the early 60s • The dust jackets had the Collins Classics number on the spine but there is nothing in/on the book though the endpapers have an interlocked "CC" logo from the series • The portrait of Wells on page [1] is the same for every edition/title and is signed S. van Abbe..... • All editions have the same bio of Wells on pages 5-8 signed H. d. R. • Some, but not all, editions identify the General Editor of the series as G. F. Maine [not this one] • Most editions have a bibliography at the end, but not the same one; all of Wells works are listed but the Books About H. G. Wells section varies
