It's not known what the "40" is to the right of the printed in U.S.A means, but it may be a code for the intended level of the audience. (On older Scholastic books, this location was used as a code for the school semester for which it was printed.)
- There are 12 unnumbered pages before page 1.
- The artist is credited as "Artwork by Richard Cowdrey". It's assumed that means he did the front cover, color paintings of owls on the inside of the front and back covers, a two page map on pages [2] and [3], and a frontispiece illustration.
