The selection now contains all but one page of the Introduction by Davies, which spans pp. [vii]-xiii. Pages ix-x concern The Jewel of the Seven Stars, concluding with notice that this book contains both the original 1904 ending and the 1912 "more up beat ending", a replacement that may not be written by Stoker (p.x, emphasis added): "In this collection, we provide you with both endings so that you can judge for yourself which you consider to be the more satisfactory conclusion to this haunting and unsettling tale."
