- HathiTrust Digital Library (HDL) provides full view of two copies from U California that it catalogues thus (records 006544747, 100116497): • "Brentano's, [c1890]"; "xvi, 366 p. 19 cm." • "Brentano's, 1906, c1899"; "388 p. 18 cm." The first includes the original front cover; its page count 366 is mistake for 388. The second title page date is a mistake. Interiors are identical: -- title page: "Theophile Gautier" (no diacritical mark), small decoration or logo, no date § -- t.p. verso: copyrights 1890 by Worthington, 1900 by Brentano's -- Contents, p[v] -- Gautier "Memorial verses" by Swinburne, p[vii] -- To the Reader, p[xi]-xvi, closing "New Orleans, 1882." -- stories span p3-381, with unimpressive headpieces and trivial tailpieces -- Addenda, p[383]-88 -- p[389], blank § § Other HDL copies of Brentano's editions show a different title page decoration, dates 1900 and 1906, and p[389] printer statement. (Wikipedia provides the image of a different front cover design as "Cover of the 1900 Brentano's edition".)
- Library of Congress record {{LCCN|99003537}} reports the 1900 Brentano's but provides a link to HDL 006544747, a mismatch.
- WorldCat library records linked here (OCLC, below) are all of those found 2019-02-18, for both print copies and e-reproductions, that report (c)1890 or (c)1899; "[1899]" or no date. Three of five report 366 pages.
