• Source of the price is a letter from Ian Spelling to a fan dated 4/99: "To answer your question Mission to Horatius is a children's novel by Mack Reynolds. It was the very first authorized STAR TREK novel produced. It was sanctioned by Desilu Studios and made valuable by Reynolds' death in 1983. It cost 79¢ when it came out and is now worth $20 in fair condition and $40 if in mint condition." The letter was inside the verification copy when purchased.
