  • Notes: This manuscript, transcribed by Sallustius, is now lost, but is the oldest version of this novel to be precisely dated. It was very influential in the transmission to later manuscript editions. It was about this time that "Metamorphoses" was first converted from a roll to a codex (necessary for further transmission), and this is very possibly the first codex manuscript edition of "Metamorphoses". See chapter 2 of The Fortunes of Apuleius & The Golden Ass, by Gaisser, for additional details.
