- Data from the October 1992 impression of the 1988 Young Lions edition. (Seems to be the second printing of the 1988 Young Lions edition.)
- The cover has the same painting as the 1998 Collins edition (with the same ISBN) but it is framed in red with less of the painting at the bottom. The Young Lion device is across the top, with the title in red, on 2 lines and in a different typeface. The author's name is at the bottom in black in title case, but a similar typeface.
- The back cover states "Illustrations by Babette Cole" and the title page and copyright page state Karin Littlewood. The cover painting is Babette Cole's style. The style of the interior illustrations is different.
