The date is taken from the publisher's introduction where they list the first twelve books in the series with numbers and dates. The introduction is signed H. M. and dated February, 1884. The price is taken from the publisher's introduction where they say the series will be bound and well-printed volumes of 320 pages for a Shilling. The front cover title is Sir Walter Scott's Demonology and Witchcraft.

Series number 12, date April 1884, is confirmed in the front pages of #23, March 1885, where this book is listed as (quote): 12. Sir Walter Scott's Demonology and Witchcraft.
