Hall indicates that 620 copies were produced for the first printing, but only 245 were originally bound. The binding state can be identified by its lack of the title on the front cover, which only has the Kalki device. The 'c' in the publisher's name on the spine is raised but not underlined. Silver Stallion has identified two variations of the binding cloth used for this state. The first variant is bound with the FL cloth, using the designation from Jacob Blanck's Bibliography of American Literature, used in the fourth state. It is also shorter by 1/8th of an inch. The second variant uses the B cloth commonly used for the other Kalki editions of Cabell's books. The cover can be seen here. 100 copies of this state were issued. The full text and images of the first printing are available at The Internet Archive. The scan does not include the covers, and the binding state can not be determined. The poems are arranged in 5 sections of 15 poems each labeled Migonitis, Hortensis, Scoteia, Verticordia and Apaturia.
