Page count is from that 1889 apparent 1st printing viewed at HathiTrust (HDL).
• Both Tuck and Bleiler78 list the page count as 316.
• British Library (BL, below) reports "xviii, 336 pages".
• WorldCat (OCLC) reports "xvi, 336".
OCLC 3465581 also reports 29 unnumbered leaves of plates, and 16 back pages of publisher's advertisements. In all three respects that WorldCat record matches the book viewed at HDL.
The discrepant reports by Tuck and Bleiler, at least, suggest another 1889 edition from Longmans.
