Notes: Probable First Edition with $3.95 printed on the front flap of the dust jacket. The rear jacket flap has reviews for "Babar Comes to America" and "Babar's Birthday Surprise". The rear panel of the jacket lists 10 titles by Laurent de Brunhoff beginning with "Babar's Other Trunk" and 6 titles by Jean de Brunhoff. The copyright page has 5 lines of copyright information near the bottom of the copyright page and no small numbers below those 5 lines. No later titles mentioned in the list of "Other Babar Books" on the page before the copyright page. This lists 16 titles ending in "Babar's Other Trunk", plus one Beginner Book and two Pop-Ups. I have never seen a copy of this book that is marked as a First Edition in any way. Babar books in general can be problematic in determining their First Editions. After 1973 Random House did start marking the printings of new titles, and new editions, with a number string.
