All papers and essays have prefatory notes which range from a single paragraph to several pages and always bear the same title as the following piece

As a frontispiece there are four small photos of Clarke's receiving the Eighth Marconi International Fellowship Award in The Hague, 1982. On the same page there is also an inscription ''Published in honor of the Marconi International Fellowship''.
On pp. 3-8 are listed details about the Marconi Fellowship (commission, grant, criteria) and the recipients for the period 1975-84.
