Synopsis:
William Judson Nagy has just graduated college and has no Life Assignment. A sentient computer assigns him to the planet Irdra. There he finds that the administrator has begun the process of integrating Irdra into the Galactic Union. The Irdrans are completely unaware of this. (The Irdrans are insectoid, friendly and have natural biological radios that allow them to communicate with each other at a distance.) It turns out that one Irdran has misrepresented himself as the head of their government. He isn't of course and the Irdrans are found to be anarchists with no need for a government. The administrator is recalled by the sentient computer. The book is notable for its deft depiction of an anarchist society, its members and its history.
