- The catalog # is Signet 451-E8575-$1.75 on the front cover and the spine has E-8575 at the top plus the ISBN 0-451-08575-2 175 at the bottom. There is no bar code. This dates the publication to the mid to late 1970s because in the early 1970s Signet would have used 451-E8575-175 at the bottom of the spine and after ~1980 they would have a barcode on the back.
- The copyright page states "This novel was published in slightly different form, in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction in installments entitled Hothouse, Nomansland, Undergrowth, Timberline and Evergreen.
