When he was young and impressionable, Keith R.A. DeCandido's parents gave him J. R. R. Tolkien, Ursula K. Le Guin, Robert A. Heinlein, and P. G. Wodehouse to read. He was doomed. He has been a writer and editor in the science fiction, fantasy, and comics fields since 1989. His short fiction has appeared in The Ultimate Spider-Man, The Ultimate Silver Surfer, the Magic: the Gathering anthology Distant Planes, the Doctor Who anthology Decalog 3: Consequences, and the forthcoming Two-Fisted Writer Tales. His nonfiction has been published in Creem, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, The Comics Journal, and Wilson Library Bulletin. He has served as co-editor of the anthologies The Ultimate Alien, The Ultimate Dragon (both with Byron Preiss and John Gregory Betancourt), OtherWere: Stories of Transformation (with Laura Anne Gilman), and a forthcoming anthology of stories based on urban legends (with Josepha Sherman). For four wonderful years, he served as cohost, coproducer, and comics critic for the acclaimed New York City science fiction talk show The Chronic Rift. He lives with his lovely and much more talented wife on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
